Magnet Forensics
A new brand identity and visual system for digital forensics companies Magnet Forensics and Grayshift ( with their primary Graykey product) merged into a new company. We helped our core client team evaluate the implications of three identity scenarios: Close-in alignment vs evolution vs reimagining. We created concepts for each which included different approaches and solutions for the Magnet logo and the Graykey symbol. Our design system was designed to solve for acquisitions in the future with brand equity that may need to be visually integrated into the Magnet system. Pre-merger Magnet Forensics and Graykey logos.
At the beginning of the project, the team felt that a closer-in evolution might be where we end up, but after seeing the possibilities of what the more revolutionary direction signaled, the leadership team gave a unanimous approval.Letting go of the current Magnet symbol that signaled the wrong connotations for the modern, mobile, and digital era meant the focus became the name itself. The design language played on the idea of gaining clarity out of disparate pieces. The Brooklyn typeface speaks well to the law enforcement and commercial segments, and the color palette was enriched with a digitally enhanced blue. We reevaluated imagery, moving away from complex layering techniques and staged stock photography and introduced a sensibility that was cleaner and uncomplicated.Wally led the design intent and overall sensibility for a reskin of their current website, working in partnership with Magnet’s internal digital team and digital AOR—Media Mechanics. We redesigned dozens of digital collateral pieces, as well as PowerPoint templates, social media examples, email signatures, and event signage guidance over twelve weeks.
